Franchisee Dr. Tracey Banks said she and her husband Bruce Lewis decided to open Right at Home Prosper after seeing the way in-home care benefited her great aunt at the end of her life.
“After Hurricane Katrina, my great aunt Mercy came to live with me,” Dr. Banks said. “She was 88 years old, and she lived with me for eight years. As a busy OB-GYN, I couldn't have done it without the help of caregivers. I know how invaluable that service is, plus it enabled her to be with me in our home. She was there with my kids as they were growing up, going to their activities. It was great to have multiple generations in the house and to hear her stories. I think her last years were very fulfilling.”
Through its network of caregivers, Right at Home Prosper provides assistance with daily tasks, like dressing, toileting, walking, transportation, cooking and cleaning to the elderly and disabled. It also provides care for veterans and individuals with special care needs, like dementia.
The organization helps older individuals stay in their homes—an environment where they already feel comfortable—by bringing the services they need directly to them. This can positively impact individuals’ quality of life.
“Depression is very high in nursing homes because a lot of times seniors feel lonely and disconnected,” Dr. Banks said. “There's several studies that show that longevity and how we age depends a lot on our state of mind. We can either resist it, or we can be resilient and embrace it. I think staying in your own home or in the home of a loved one helps you to embrace aging in a wonderful, beneficial way because it keeps you connected and engaged.”
Right at Home Prosper provides personalized care based on each client’s needs. Caregivers can visit the home for a couple hours, overnight or 24/7. After an initial phone call to understand the client’s needs, Right at Home Prosper develops the personalized care plan followed by an in-home assessment. From there, they match the client with the right caregiver.
Dr. Banks said Right at Home Prosper has a strict vetting process, and all caregivers go through a criminal background check and are insured and bonded.
“We really are very selective in our caregivers because it's a matter of trust,” Dr. Banks said. “These are people who are coming into your home, and you want to be able to trust them. I'm happy to say, our caregivers really become part of our client’s family.”
Because of this great team of caregivers, Right at Home Prosper has won several awards, including the 2024 Best of Home Care Leader in Experience, Provider of Choice, Employer of Choice, Leader in Training and Top 100 in Experience Awards.
“Out of 3,400 home care agencies in North America that participated in the 2024 Home Care Pulse survey, we were ranked No. 26!,” Dr. Banks said. “We're very proud of that and it is a testament to our great staff and service we provide.” Right at Home Prosper serves the Greater Far North Texas area from Prosper to Denison.
