Those looking for the perfect piece of art at an affordable price that also supports local artists can stop by New Braunfels Art League to fulfill this search.

Started in 1965, the nonprofit organization aims to promote visual arts while also providing a community space for artists to sell and show their work. The gallery showcases a multitude of mediums, including paintings, photography, jewelry, sculptures, pottery, glass, textiles and 3D art.

“It was developed by some local artists as a place to show and sell their artwork, and to enrich the art culture here. It is an art gallery with 100-plus local artists,” third Vice President Gretchen Goode said. “It's all original art of varying sizes and shapes at very affordable prices.”

There are two different memberships available: general membership and displaying membership. A general membership is $40 annually, while a displaying membership comes in at $80 a year and allows members to display their artwork in the main gallery if they have gone through the jury process.

Along with displaying and selling local artwork, New Braunfels Art League offers classes at varying price points for people to learn different art forms.

Classes include:
  • Acrylic painting
  • Oil painting
  • Drawing-based media
  • Water-based media
  • Photography
  • 3D media
  • Summer art classes for kids ages 6-12
To coincide with classes, the New Braunfels Art League puts on more in-depth workshops taught by visiting artists that delve deep into different art forms. Some workshops do fill up beforehand, but there are waitlists interested customers can sign up for. Prices differ depending on if someone is a member of the league.
