Frisco is a thriving place for growing, young families. For those families welcoming new babies, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Centennial offers a patient- and family-centered environment for expectant parents with a holistic approach to care. With high-risk specialists and a 24-hour, on-site team of obstetrician gynecologists on our medical staff, expecting parents can feel supported every step of the way.

BSW – Centennial was recently named a High Performing Hospital for Maternity Care by the U.S. News & World Report for the second consecutive year. This award recognizes the outstanding ways the facility supports healthy and safe maternal care including lower rates of unplanned c-sections and programs which support breastfeeding success.

BSW - Centennial is a designated level III Maternal Center and Level III Neonatal ICU by the Texas Department of State Health Services. The Level III NICU provides advanced comprehensive care for critically ill or premature babies, including multiple subspecialties and specialized equipment. This type of unit is best for babies born before 32 weeks who are underweight, critically ill or need equipment to help them breathe.

BSW – Centennial labor and delivery offerings

New and expecting parents can take comfort knowing that BSW – Centennial’s priority is family-centered care.

The location offers a dedicated suite for moms at any point in their journey, including high-risk (antepartum), labor and delivery, and postpartum suites. These birthing suites allow families to remain together during the entire birthing process, creating a comfortable environment for a cherished experience. The spacious labor and delivery suites also allow for care to be brought to laboring mothers and new families.

For the comfort and convenience of laboring mothers, BSW - Centennial also offers:
  • private ensuite bathroom with shower
  • direct triage for mothers needing medical care
  • sleep area for a support person
  • soothing colors and ambient lighting to create a calming, relaxing environment
  • flat screen TVs and a work area with wireless internet
  • comfortable visiting hours
  • family lounge
  • lactation consultants and nursing staff specially trained to assist moms with breastfeeding
  • 24-hour on-site OB/GYN team
  • 24-hour neonatal nurse practitioner to care for infants who may need advanced care
  • fetal surveillance system to monitor babies before they are born
  • two surgical suites for Cesarean births (C-sections)
  • easy access to childbirth, baby care and breastfeeding classes
Because BSW - Centennial offers wireless monitoring, moms are able to get up and move during the early stages of labor. The location also offers a neonatologist on the medical staff and 24/7 OBGYN obstetric emergency room. In addition, BSW - Centennial offers couplet care in postpartum support bonding between the mother and baby as well as specialized inpatient lactation consultants and outpatient lactation support availability after discharge from the hospital.

BSW - Centennial’s providers and caregivers stay up to date on evidence-based practices to promote quality and safe care. The caring and compassionate team treats families as if they were their own. The dedicated team bonds with patients and cares not only for the baby, but for the mother and family as well. The hospital’s team of labor nurses, certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), midwives and physicians on the medical staff work collectively as a team to care for the entire family. In addition, the NICU, post-partum, labor and delivery, and antepartum areas are all located on the same floor, allowing experts to quickly collaborate.

Making your delivery personal

BSW- Centennial’s approach to caring for new and expecting parents focuses on providing personalized and positive patient experiences. Mothers should consult with their obstetric gynecologist (OB/GYN) to determine a birthing plan and learn about their options and the type of care they and their baby may need. For mothers who are high-risk, BSW - Centennial recommends collaborating with a maternal-fetal medicine specialist to identify any specific care the mother and baby may need during delivery.

To find the hospital that best suits their needs, mothers and families should schedule tours of their referred hospitals and explore any offered classes such as child birthing, breastfeeding and newborn care classes.

Mothers shouldn’t hesitate to ask questions—whether it’s about pain management, special sounds, scents and lighting or equipment to aid in the birthing process such as a birthing ball, BSW - Centennial has expecting mothers and families covered. The team’s top priority is creating a memorable, comfortable birthing and delivery experience.

“Just like every baby is unique, each woman’s journey through pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum care is different,” said Gunjan Chitnis, doctor of osteopathic medicine and board-certified OB/GYN on the medical staff at BSW Centennial. “A patient is her own best advocate for her delivery experience.” Ami Patel, Director of Service Line Operations for BSW Centennial, added, "Our team is here to listen and create uniquely meaningful birth experiences for each patient while remaining committed to quality outcomes."

BSW - Centennial is located at 12505 Lebanon Rd, Frisco. To learn more or to find a physician, please visit the website.
