Founded by Halina Pradzynski in 1970, Halina Spa offers holistic, science-based skin care treatments that are both relaxing and effective.

The spa is located at The Grove in Austin and offers services such as facials, massages, hair removal, manicures, pedicures, laser treatments and skin rejuvenation.

“Our top treatment is definitely our facials,” said Jessica Serna, Director of Operations and Business Development. “If you've never had a Halina facial, I invite you to come in; you'll be hooked.”

The backstory

Originally from Poland, Pradzynski worked for the Polish underground movement during World War II. After surviving a concentration camp, she studied medicine and married her husband, Andrzej, who was a chemist. They moved to the U.S. when her husband was offered a research position at The University of Texas at Austin.

Pradzynski studied at the Helena Rubenstein Beauty Institute in Paris and wanted to bring her knowledge and passion for skin care to Austin’s residents.

“Not only was she able to open a spa, but she also opened up a cosmetics company,” Serna said. “With her husband's research, they were able to develop some really unique products that were quite forward for the time, incorporating some unique ingredients into her formulations. She's arguably the first person who introduced European skin care techniques to the ladies of Central Austin.”

Promoting relaxation and wellness

Today, Halina Spa continues to honor its founder's legacy by offering a blend of traditional European skin care techniques and modern technologies. Halina Spa has expanded its services to continue providing relaxation and wellness to individuals in Austin.

“We offer not only facials, but massage and nail therapy,” Serna said. “We also have included a medical rejuvenation spa, so we offer injectables, laser treatments, hair treatments, hairstyling services. ... We're really a one-stop-shop for all of your beauty needs.”

The spa features 12 treatment rooms, a relaxation lounge and a secret speakeasy known as Andre's Library. This private room is perfect for couples or spa parties. The spa's decor, inspired by Halina's favorite colors of blue, gold and cream, creates a calming and inviting atmosphere.

Halina Spa also includes a retail shop called Lina’s, which offers a curated selection of home goods and gifts, many of which support local Texas artists. This extension of the spa experience allows clients to bring a piece of the spa into their homes.
