The Kink Team is a renowned expert in the real estate market, always making sure clients are happy and ready to move into their dream home. Operating under Keller Williams Realty, The Kink Team was started over 25 years ago by Diane Kink and serves The Woodlands.
Community Impact sat down with two members of the team—executive listing manager Lisa Cagle and transaction coordinator Linda Dantin—to find out how a multimillion-dollar real estate company works behind the scenes.
When and how did you become a valued team member, and how long have you been supporting Kink and the team?
Cagle: I joined the team approximately 12 years ago in a temporary role. Very quickly, it evolved into a full-time opportunity that provided incredible growth both personally and professionally.
Dantin: Kink and I were friends and neighbors before she was in real estate. I joined her team over 13 years ago.
What does an average day look like for you?
Cagle: There truly is nothing average about this position. Every day is unique and presents new situations. I begin with connecting with our team leader and my co-workers, making sure everyone has what they need to start the day.
Dantin: While every day is similar, every transaction has its own characteristics. Through phone calls, email and texting, I communicate with all parties of the transaction regularly all the way through closing.
How is selling real estate in The Woodlands unique, and does it present any challenges?
Cagle: We are blessed to work in one of America's top communities to live. The Woodlands is a master-planned community that offers a diverse array of amenities, from parks to walking trails, approximately 2,100 businesses, exceptional schools, shopping, dining, health care and so much more. The challenge is an ever-changing market and working to handle things professionally that are out of our control.
Dantin: We are fortunate to be in a community with an abundance of opportunity. The focus on family values and corporate growth help to grow our community, resulting in consistent demand for real estate. It keeps us busy!
What strategies do you use to build and maintain good relationships with clients and the agents in your role?
Cagle: Being organized and communicating well.
Dantin: It is important for our clients to know they are in good hands. I try to stay ahead of deadlines, and I send frequent updates to all parties to the transaction. They all have my cellphone, and I let them know that I am always available to them.
Real estate can be very dynamic—how do you keep up with industry challenges and changes?
Cagle: Keller Williams expects and provides exceptional education and opportunities to continue learning. Real estate in general requires continuous education to be sure all agents are well-informed and up to date.
Dantin: My focus is keeping our files compliant. I am very aware of every term and detail of a contract; therefore, I must keep up with changes. Keller Williams is excellent with keeping us updated through emails, training sessions and informational Zoom calls.
What attracts you to working in real estate support, and what do you find most rewarding?
Cagle: I love working with passionate people and those that love to problem-solve. Building Kink’s luxury business with her has been incredibly rewarding. I enjoy providing the necessary resources, assistance and encouragement to others, enabling them to achieve their goals, which in turn gives me a sense of achieving my own.
Dantin: Call me crazy, but I love the details. Much of my work experience, even before real estate, involved writing and deciphering contracts. I enjoy keeping things organized and completed. I love checking off the to-do boxes. It is also very rewarding to get a client to closing, whether they are moving into their beautiful new home or moving on to a new adventure.
