SALT Service Co. Plumbing, Air and Electric has a trusted reputation in the Greater Austin area due to its reliable team and service-oriented culture.

When the company was founded in 1984, it offered lighting maintenance and repair services. “We really pride ourselves in having personal communication,” Garza said. “Our call center [consists of] all our employees here. My dad described it the other day saying ‘We're the Rolls Royce of Home Services.’ We're going to provide a service that people need but a different experience than maybe what they're expecting or what they’re used to.”

The SALT team prioritizes homeowner education. Garza said her team stops to explain what they are doing to the home and why they’re doing it. SALT staff also educate homeowners on issues that could arise in the long term so the homeowner can be proactive and take good care of their home.


Service Director Brendan McCarthy said employees receive an equal amount of training on customer service as they do technical skills.

“It's really important for us to be able to take care of the customer and communicate with them from the beginning,” McCarthy said. “We do an on-the-way call, the expert shows up and does the work, then we do a post-call follow-up. Salt-of-the-earth service to us is really taking care of the customer and educating and informing them.”

The SALT team also takes care of the community through its newly launched 501c3 SALT Cares, Inc. program. Garza said once a month throughout the spring and summer, the team will pick a family or individual in need in the community and install a new HVAC unit. In the fall and winter months, the company will donate water heaters and whole home re-devices monthly to an individual or family in need.

“Our parents have really instilled in us ‘to whom much is given, much is required’ and these are gifts and abilities we have as a business to bless other people with,” Garza said. “Our core purpose is to serve our community and team members with love and integrity. So we feel like our salt-of-the-earth service and SALT Cares all kind of runs full circle.”
