In an effort to give back and showcase move-in ready homes to visitors, The Highlands by Caldwell Communities is embarking on its second annual All Trails Lead Home Tour.

The Highlands is an award-winning 2,300-acre master planned community in Porter that opened in fall 2021. Upon build out, there will be 4,000 homes in The Highlands, and currently there are almost 600 families that live in the community today.

A closer look

The Highlands is unique because there are 13 different home builders and 17 different model homes in the community. The community offers homes for every stage of life, with price points ranging from $300,000 to $1 million plus.

Inspired by national parks and an active lifestyle, the community was designed with the goal of connecting residents to each other and with nature.

“All of the thought and detail put into The Highlands, like the way the entrance was designed for residents and visitors to pass beneath a towering portal reminiscent of park entrances like Mt. Rainer, or the way that the architecture on the monuments was done to mimic national park signs or keeping the trees throughout the community, gives you the sense of peace and calm that nature brings. You feel that as soon as you drive in,” marketing manager Becca Green said.

Some of the highlighted amenities include:
  • multiple recreational lakes
  • 30-plus miles of trails
  • Discovery Cove amenity complex
    • resort style pools
    • water park and splash pad
    • lazy river
    • fitness center
    • catering kitchen
  • pavilions and open green space
  • 200 acres of nature preserve
  • Highland Pines Golf Course
  • parks and playgrounds
  • tennis and pickleball courts
“You really feel like you're in a national park, but it's in your own backyard. You don't even have to go on vacation if you don’t want to,” Green said.

The national park theme even trickles down to the welcome center—called the Visitor Center—and the national park-inspired section and road names.

All Trails Lead Home Tour details

The All Trails Lead Home Tour is taking place now through the end of May. For every home purchased in the month of May, buyers will be entered into a grand prize drawing for either a custom golf cart or a brand-new landscaping package valued at $10,000. Additionally, every homebuyer will get to pick from the following two charities that The Highlands and Caldwell Communities will donate $200 toward:
  • Sleep in Heavenly Peace Montgomery County: a nonprofit that provides beds for children in need locally
  • Montgomery County Food Bank: a nonprofit that collects and distributes food and resources to those in need throughout the county
Last year’s home tour raised over $10,000 for these two local charities.

Visitors can pick up a map at the Visitor Center to start their tour by following the acorn icons set up at each new home that corresponds with the map. Any home purchased will count toward the grand prize and donation, as well any lots purchased.

“We wanted to give people a fun way to look for their homes while also giving back to their community,” Green said. “At Caldwell Communities we want to build extraordinary places that enrich the lives of our residents and the greater community. Getting to give back to these organizations that are doing such amazing things day in and day out and working so hard to provide to those in need was really important to us.”

To learn more about The Highlands, the model homes and participate in the tour, stop by the Visitor Center located at 21875 Zion Drive, Porter.
