Running enthusiasts in the Dallas-Fort Worth area don’t want to miss the second annual Trinity Falls 5k on Saturday, June 1st. In addition to enjoying Trinity Falls’ 350-acre park and free popsicles at the finish line, this event gives community members an opportunity to support three local nonprofits.

Director of Marketing for Johnson Development C’Ella Clayton said 100% of the proceeds from the event will be donated to Children’s Health, Combined Arms—which supports veterans and the military community—and Direction 61:3, which supports individuals aging out of the foster care system.

Last year’s race filled up long before the registration deadline, so Clayton said the event organizers increased the number of spots to 650 this year. Another new addition to the event is each runner who finishes the race will receive a free Frios gourmet popsicle and have the opportunity to participate in a cool-down yoga session.

“The thing I love about 5ks is it brings the camaraderie out in everyone,” Clayton said. “Everyone is happy and excited and cheering each other on. You can’t replace that type of feeling. That to me represents the heart of our community.”

This event is designed to offer fun for the whole family, even for individuals who are not runners. At 10 a.m., a community member will read Eric Carle’s book, The Grouchy Ladybug, which will be followed by a ladybug release. Clayton said the ladybug release was a highlight of last year’s event, and she’s excited to do it again.

“It was just so fun to see all these beautiful ladybugs and kids and families interacting with them,” Clayton said. “I truly believe that's what helped our flowers...having those ladybugs help [with pollination] to bring the green back this year because we didn't get as much rain or wintery weather.”

Attendees can also enjoy food trucks, a disc golf demonstration, local vendors, music and photo opportunities and a model home tour. Event attendees who participate in the model home tour will have a chance to win a $1,000 gift card to Nebraska Furniture Mart.

The Trinity Falls 5k is a great opportunity for future residents to tour a home and get a sense for what the community has to offer.

Trinity Falls is a master-planned community located west of US 75 and north of US 380 in McKinney. Residents can purchase new homes from six different builders: Chesmar Homes, Coventry Homes, Del Webb Homes, Drees Custom Homes, Highland Homes and Perry Homes. With an on-site elementary school and resident events, Trinity Falls prioritizes bringing neighbors together.

“We have some future commercial retail that’s coming at the main intersection of Olympic Crossing and Trinity Falls Parkway,” Clayton said. “We’re super excited about that. We also put on 75 plus events for our residents from concerts to food truck festivals to craft nights to bring the community together.”

Trinity Falls also offers paved trails throughout the community so residents can spend time outside with family and friends. To see available homes in the Trinity Falls community, go here.

Runners interested in registering for the Trinity Falls 5k can sign up here. The race begins at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 1. Registration costs $30 and includes a t-shirt.
