After working in her veterinarian clinic for many years, Dr. Amy Thomason combined her passion for animals with her business and marketing experience to start Riley’s Ranch Pet Resort.

Named after Dr. Thomason’s dog Riley, the locally owned pet resort offers overnight boarding, pet daycare, grooming, self-serve bathing stations and more.

In addition to these services, Riley’s Ranch Pet Resort stands out by offering veterinary acupuncture. Dr. Thomason’s expertise in this field allows her to address a wide range of issues, from arthritis and back problems to allergies.

“I have one patient, a golden retriever who turned 16 last weekend, and [the owner] swears that this dog would not be alive without acupuncture,” Dr. Thomason said. “It can do pretty much anything. It can help with anxiety. It can help with gastrointestinal issues...It’s really quite amazing.”

Because Dr. Thomason is a licensed veterinarian, she is the only staff member who administers pet acupuncture.

Having a veterinarian on-site also gives pet parents peace of mind, knowing Dr. Thomason can handle any medical issues that arise during a pet’s stay.

For pet parents, leaving their pets can be challenging, so the team at Riley’s Ranch sends daily updates and photos to pet parents, allowing them to stay connected and reassured of their pet's well-being.

“We just have a great staff that really and truly cares for the pets that come through the door,” Dr. Thomason said.

Staff members, called ‘ranch hands,’ regularly participate in ongoing training to give the pets at Riley’s Ranch the best possible care.

“We work closely with a behaviorist here in town,” Dr. Thomason said. “We're having constant lunch-and-learn events with them to bring the staff up to speed on how to read animals. They give us basic training tips to help the dogs in the yards.”

In addition to exceptional care services, Riley's Ranch is a locally owned and operated business.

Other perks unique at Riley’s Ranch:
  • luxury and executive suites
  • three large outdoor play areas
  • splash pad
  • indoor play area
  • a separate cat boarding area
Riley’s Ranch also offers special accommodations for pets, such as:
  • diabetic pets
  • pets needing special medications
  • pets healing from fractures
  • older pets with mobility issues
  • puppies still learning potty training
Riley’s Ranch Pet Resort is located at 15839 State Hwy 71, Austin. Whether it's a weekend getaway or an extended stay, pet parents can be confident that their pets are in good hands at Riley's Ranch Pet Resort.
