Jamestown Estate Homes is a local, family-owned and female-led homebuilding company specializing in building custom homes in Houston. Houston homebuyers looking to make a home uniquely theirs can create endlessly customizable options with the custom building company.

Marketing Director Elizabeth Phillips said what sets Jamestown apart from other builders is family ownership. The company was started by a dad and his three daughters in 2010. As one of the three daughters, Phillips, along with her sisters, positively influence the design and development of the homes, ensuring that all Jamestown properties are livable, functional and beautiful.

Phillips said Jamestown offers two ways to start a custom build. Customers can either have the team design their vision from scratch or start from an existing design and make modifications.

“People might be thinking the [design] process will take a long time, but it actually does not,” Phillips said. “Because we have an in-house design team, in a few weeks we can go from a concept to a real plan that we call ‘full draw’, which is the blueprints.”

From the first meeting with a customer, Jamestown can finish a home in eight to 10 months. Phillips said Jamestown also specializes in unique rooms and spaces, such as appliance pantries, second kitchens, wine rooms and kids’ playrooms.

Because pets are part of the family, Jamestown can also incorporate “barkitecture”—unique features such as dog wash stations and kennels to make caring for furry friends easier.

Phillips said Jamestown is also careful to include thoughtful features throughout its homes, including energy efficient foam attic insulation, tankless water heaters, and LoE3 windows, which block 97% of the sun’s UV rays. To protect against common Houston weather issues, such as burst pipes and windstorms, Jamestown homes include Uponor PEX water lines and shear walls.

In Central Houston, Jamestown is offering homesites in Garden Oaks and Oak Forest. In Oak Forest, Jamestown has a model home at 1352 Gardenia Drive. The nearly 5,000-square-foot house features five bedrooms, five and a half baths and an oversized two-car garage, plus a carport that doubles as an entertainment space. The builder also has another home under construction at 1218 Gardenia Drive. Both homes are zoned for Oak Forest Elementary School and offer a walkable distance of five to 10 minutes.

Jamestown also has a homesite in the Sunset Heights neighborhood in The Heights. This home will be zoned to Field Elementary School and is within walking distance of neighborhood restaurants, bars and Halbert Park.

“Our homes have really nicely sized bedrooms and we include game rooms,” she said. “We usually try to include a little extra space in the garage so you can park big cars and put [kids’] bikes in there, and we also have generously sized laundry rooms.”

In addition to Oak Forest and The Heights, Jamestown can build in Montrose, River Oaks or just about anywhere a customer has a lot.
