Local GEICO agent earns certified insurance counselor designation, demonstrates community commitment

Sponsored by: GEICO The Colony

GEICO Insurance Agent Matt Bischof recently received the designation of certified insurance counselor, representing his commitment to providing excellent service to his local community in The Colony.

Bischof earned this designation after completing an insurance education program through the society of certified insurance counselors. This CIC designation is a testament to the level of service Bischof and his team offer.

“[Customers] should know that they’re dealing with someone who is committed to the profession, committed to the company and committed to making sure the customer is taken care of,” Bischof said.

This certification, along with years of service, makes Bischof’s team stand out among other insurance providers.

“We have a team of five [with] decades of combined experience,” Bischof said.

Bischof said he has dealt with many claims over the years, and he is experienced in helping people with everything from frozen pipes to hail storms to rats chewing through car wires.

“We’ve got a pretty diverse group of people who have experience in everything,” he said.

Although GEICO is known for providing car and motorcycle insurance, Bischof and his team can help customers with a variety of additional insurance such as home, condo, apartment, boat and jewelry

“Our whole role is to be the local face for GEICO,” Bischof said. “Not a lot of people realize that GEICO has local agents. When people think of GEICO, they think of the gecko but I want them to think local. You can walk in and talk to us.”

GEICO’s The Colony location is at 5733 State Hwy 121 and staff members are planning to relocate to the corner of South Colony and 423 in April. Bischof said he hopes the new location will make GEICO’s services more accessible for the community his team serves.

“We’re here for you,” Bischof said. “We’re not some huge call center. We’re that personalized, familiar agent for GEICO.”

Having local insurance agents allows customers to get individualized services, specific to the needs in their area. For example, after a large hail storm in 2018 GEICO agents set up a drive-thru insurance office in the Nebraska Furniture Mart to quickly and efficiently assess the hail damage to their customers’ cars.

“You can’t predict what’s going to happen,” Bischof said. “That’s why you buy insurance and that’s why we’re here. We’ve seen a lot of different situations and helped customers in these moments of need.”

GEICO insurance agents are also actively involved in the community. Bischof said GEICO has partnered with Frisco ISD, Lewisville ISD, both cities’ chambers of commerce, The Colony sports teams and marching band.

Because of Bischof’s CIC designation, customers can feel confident that Bischof and the team of local GEICO agents will help them find the right plan to fit their needs.
