Dr. David Ensley and Dr. Nazgol Gharbi give patients confident smiles at Celebrate Dental & Braces. The practice opened in November 2021 and is located at 111 W. William Cannon Drive, Ste. 200, Austin.

Community Impact sat down with Dr. Ensley, board-certified orthodontist, and Dr. Gharbi, a board-certified dental public health specialist, to discuss their vision, mission, what makes their job so rewarding and the services they offer.

How did you initially get involved in your practice?

Dr. Gharbi:
I have been practicing dentistry for 20 years. I have a patient-centered and compassionate approach to providing dental care. I take into account individuals’ backgrounds, wants and needs, and I respect their beliefs, concerns and priorities. A few years ago, I decided I wanted to have my own practice to have full autonomy and to be able to treat my patients the way I have always wanted. I spend a lot of time educating my patients chairside so that they understand the importance and urgency of treatments they need, without feeling pressured to make big decisions immediately.

Dr. Ensley: I had braces as a teenager, and getting a new smile gave me so much confidence that I decided I wanted to make a career of helping people smile. I also wanted to serve my country, so I served for seven years as an Army orthodontist. When I got out of the Army, we moved back to Austin, where my wife grew up. I wanted to build a practice that made people feel special and cared for, so Dr. Gharbi and I started Celebrate together.

What is the overall mission of Celebrate Dental & Braces?

Dr. Gharbi:
We celebrate smiles. I do many minimally invasive smile makeovers. It is amazing to see how a smile can be changed in an hour or so. People walk in with broken or discolored front teeth, unhappy with their smiles. In many of these cases, I can change the shape and shade of their teeth in the one session, and they walk out with a big smile on their faces. I think everybody should feel proud about their smile.

Dr. Ensley: I use part art and part science to create beautiful smiles. When people receive high-quality care that they can afford, when it is easy to get a smile they are proud of and when they have a great experience at the office, they finally feel more confident. That is something worth celebrating.

What services are offered at Celebrate Dental & Braces?

Dr. Gharbi:
We do everything including:What are some of your proudest achievements?

Dr. Gharbi:
On Oct. 7, I took the pledge and was welcomed to the Pierre Fauchard Academy as a new fellow. This award was in recognition of my outstanding performance, integrity, leadership and service during the past 20 years. Fellowship in the Pierre Fauchard Academy is extended to fewer than 3% of dentists internationally, and it is designed to honor ethical dentists with significant accomplishments in the field of dentistry. Fellows are selected based on contributions to dental research, service to the profession and service to the general community.

Dr. Ensley: I am very proud to have achieved board certification as an orthodontist. Only around half of orthodontists are board-certified, and there are very few who practice in South Austin. I am most proud of my family though. I have a wonderful wife and four awesome kids. They motivate me to always do my best for the families in my practice.

What makes your practice stand out?

Dr. Ensley:
We do easy, in-house payment plans for people. We see kids and adults of all ages for braces and Invisalign. We try to make dental and orthodontic visits easy and convenient for patients. We have convenient hours, including late afternoons and Saturdays by appointment. You cannot beat our combination of quality, convenience and affordability. Our patients think we stand out because of our friendly service.

What is the most rewarding part about being in this industry?

Dr. Gharbi:
For me, it is taking away pain, infection and discomfort, and restoring smiles in one visit, which gets people emotional sometimes. Whether it is pain or lack of confidence, I can help my patients, and I get to see the relief in their faces instantly.

Dr. Ensley: For me, it is definitely the transformation. Taking somebody who is embarrassed by their smile and transforming their smile into something that they love, that they are proud of and gives them confidence when they smile. This is incredibly rewarding.
