The Cochrun Group is a minority, woman- and veteran-owned business with a diverse, bilingual team serving the local community. Located in Cedar Park, Texas, the agency serves Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston and the Rio Grande Valley area as well as states surrounding Texas.
The agency specializes in four main areas of insurance coverage:
- Medicare Advantage and Supplement Plans
- ACA Health Plans
- Dental and Vision Plans
- Life and Final Expense Plans
“We help them look for plans that are going to maximize those benefits with the least out of pocket costs,” Cochrun said.
Three important times of the year include:
- Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period (AEP): Oct. 15-Dec. 7.
- Affordable Care Act enrollment period: Nov. 1-Jan. 15.
- Open Enrollment Period: Jan. 1-March 31
One benefit Cochrun’s brokerage offers is not mandating that clients come into the office for consultations. Depending on clients’ preference, she and the team of agents can travel for meetings and even schedule virtual meetings or phone calls for out-of-state clientele.
“I have such a passion for the work I do,” Cochrun said. “It’s very fulfilling to know that you're helping somebody when they really need it, and my clients can count on me year after year, knowing I have their best interests at heart.”
Cochrun said clients often thank her for spending so much time listening to them and learning about their needs. When they ask how much they owe her, they’re shocked to learn that they don’t owe her any money.
“When I tell them they don’t owe me anything, they can’t believe that,” Cochrun said. “But the companies will take care of me.”
For veterans, there’s another advantage for working with The Cochrun Group: Cochrun herself is a United States Marine Corps veteran and has a passion for helping the community.
“The big thing that we do is educate our veteran community,” she said. “A lot of them don't know that they can have further coverage options other than the Department of Veterans Affairs, but they're the only segment of the population that can have dual coverage.”
Cochrun said most of the brokerage’s carriers include veteran plans that can offer benefits to the community, such as a giveback program for veterans’ Part B. In addition, the Cedar Park office is a brick and mortar location inside Heroes Night Out, the local veteran resource center, and agents are there 365 days a year to support them and find the resources they need.
Cochrun said at the end of the day, her work is more of a calling than a job—it’s something she’s passionate about and takes pride in. She is intentional about connecting with her clients and isn’t someone that will up and disappear.
The Cochrun Group reaches out to clients individually at least twice a year and hosts a variety of events in different locations throughout the year to maintain an ongoing relationship.
“We’re dealing with a segment of the community that really depends on somebody who's knowledgeable, and somebody who has the empathy to really listen and guide them and provide them what they need,” she said. “We pride ourselves on our integrity and always doing what’s right for the client.”
