After six years of living in San Antonio, Dr. John McEntire decided he needed a change.

After leaving the big city behind, he realized he wanted to move somewhere that had a small town feel while also being connected to a large metropolitan area. The perfect spot he found ended up being the city of Hutto, where he opened Hutto Premier Dentistry in 2008.

Located at 60 Chris Kelly Blvd., Hutto, the business opened at a much needed time when the city was starting to experience tremendous growth and only had one dentist to serve the entire community.

Doctors employed at Hutto Premier Dentistry currently:“I saw a need to open and practice here. I wanted to serve the community, serve patients and grow the practice, and that's what we've done,” Dr. McEntire said. “We've been super fortunate to kind of hit the ground running and grow ever since then.”

Making a difference

With a 15-year-anniversary happening this year, Hutto Premier Dentistry has come a long way in terms of what a normal dentists office looks like. The ultimate goal, according to Dr. McEntire, is ensuring the patient is comfortable.

Some of the ways they ensure a patient’s comfort:
  • Hiring a team with a great attitude
  • Nice art on the walls
  • A waiting room equipped with a Keurig and games
  • TVs on the ceilings above the dental chairs
  • Headphones available to tune out noises
  • Laughing gas to put patients at ease
Having this level of comfort is also helped along by many of the practices’ patients having been there since they were little kids. Dr. McEntire has even seen kids since they were five years old and is now seeing them go off to college.

“It makes you feel old because you'd see patients as young as 4 years old, and now they're graduating high school and going to college. It feels full circle,” Dr. McEntire said. “It's really cool to think about how we've taken care of this patient for their whole life now, which is pretty awesome.”

What to expect

Hutto Premier Dentistry offers a variety of services for its patients, servicing people as young as 12 months old and going up to senior adults. Dr. McEntire recommends starting patients this young to help get them accustomed to being in the dentist chair.

After the initial checkup, it is recommended for patients to come in every six months. Once patients make that first phone call, the dentistry will make sure to make them feel important and that their concerns and needs are being heard.

Services offered at Hutto Premier Dentistry include:
  • General dentistry
  • Cosmetic dentistry
  • Same-day CEREC crowns
  • Sedation dentistry
  • Dental implant placement and restoration
  • Wisdom teeth removal
  • Children’s dentistry
  • Invisalign
  • Root canals
  • Treatment of gum disease
Despite all of the changes to the dental industry, one thing remains the same: the dedication to the Hutto community and staying locally owned.

“When a patient comes to our practice, I'm the owner. If there's a problem, I'm here on site four or five days a week and I'm here to help a patient with an issue or a concern,” Dr. McEntire. “We're still that locally owned, non-corporate, non-franchise dental practice. I think patients appreciate that.”
