Whether a teenager is getting braces or a retainer is placed for an adult, Round Rock Orthodontics has a way of making everyone with an appointment feel at ease the moment they recline back in the chair.

The practice is located at 503 E. Palm Valley Blvd., Building 2, Ste. 200, Round Rock and was opened in 2002 by Dr. Paul Gates.

“We focus on comprehensive, all-ages orthodontic care and customized treatment is our emphasis,” Dr. Gates said. “We have a state-of-the-art facility and technology. We have a 3D scanner and 3D printing to provide the most accurate and comfortable imaging capabilities that are very, very helpful with orthodontics.”

Not only does the practice offer elevated care, but they also have an intentionally-designed office space. Instead of having rows of dental chairs in one large open space where everyone can see each other, Round Rock Orthodontics offers private suites at every appointment to increase patient comfort.

“I just wanted everyone to have that privacy,” Dr. Gates said. “Every single room is private and I don't have to worry about who might feel uncomfortable and who might not.”

Many parents might think their children don’t need to see an orthodontist until they're a teenager, but according to the American Association of Orthodontists, age 7 is actually the ideal time to come in for a free consultation.

Even if there’s no immediate course of action to be taken, Dr. Gates still encourages patients to come in for follow ups to make sure everything is going to plan.

When it comes to braces, there are some very clear dos and don'ts Dr. Gates recommends:
  • Do make sure you’re keeping your teeth clean. Having braces can make it harder to get the germs off when brushing your teeth.
  • Do be aware of how much sugar and acid is being consumed, since they are the main causes of tooth decay.
  • Do keep the gum area clean, as not doing so can cause gingivitis.
  • Do go to all recommended dentist appointments to help keep your teeth cleaner and healthier.
  • Don’t eat hard, crunchy and sticky food, as they are the number one cause of delay in treatment.
With October being Orthodontic Awareness Month, there’s no better time to check in with your orthodontist and make sure everything is looking good. Besides metal and clear braces, Round Rock Orthodontics also offers Invisalign clear aligners for teens and adults, early intervention treatment for children, and utilizes advanced diagnostic technologies and next generation appliances.

Round Rock Orthodontics offers free consultations, evaluations and interest free payment plans.

As a resident himself of the Round Rock community, Dr. Gates said there’s no better reward than being able to give back to the community that his own children have grown up in.

Dr. Gates provides complimentary orthodontic treatment to children referred from the Texas Baptist Children’s Home. Dr. Gates and his daughter Ava, a fourth year dental student, also volunteer with the Capital Area Dental Foundation, providing dental treatment to underserved residents of our community.

“The thing I love about being an orthodontist is I get to really know people,” Dr. Gates said. “I've seen a lot of patients over a number of years. I've seen kids grow up. Now I've been here long enough to start treating the second generation which is fun, and it's a coordinated effort between our other dental colleagues, the patient and myself.”
