The story of how V Bistro Vietnamese Noodle & Grill came to be dates back years ago—and also starts halfway across the world, in Saigon, Vietnam.
Tammy Huynh, who currently owns the Humble location of V Bistro Vietnamese Noodle & Grill, said her parents opened their first Vietnamese restaurant in 1985. Their dedication and hard work is what kept the family supported throughout the 90s, and eventually led to them immigrating to Dallas, where her sister Julie Vo and husband Khoi Vo, following in their parent's footsteps, opened another restaurant in 1998.
Flash forward to 2008 when Huynh opened V Bistro Vietnamese Noodle & Grill, located at 19775 US-59 in Humble. The expansions don’t stop there: Huynh’s sister Vo is preparing to open another restaurant at 4489 W. Davis St., Ste. 200, Conroe in August.
How has the family sustained so many successful restaurants? The secret, according to Huynh, is their delicious menu featuring a popular dish called pho. The Vietnamese soup dish consists of broth, rice noodles, herbs and meat.
“Our key to success is we use quality ingredients with traditional recipes. We cook our broth for seven to eight hours, so it’s very flavorful,” Huynh said. “The recipe that we have is from my mom and has been in the family for the past 40 years.”
Other items on the menu include rice plates, curry shrimp, basil flat noodles, fried rice, egg rolls, crab rangoons, wonton soup, bahn mi and vegetable stir fry. Huynh also noted their smoothies and milk teas are a favorite in the community.
Cooking quality and customer service, as well as a passion for what they do, is what has made the restaurant become so successful and busy.
“My dad had taught us at a young age that customers always come first, and that customer service is the key to success,” Huynh said.
On any given day, restaurant patrons can find Huynh working a multitude of positions: waiting tables, greeting customers at the front or making sure everything is going smoothly in the back. Once her sister’s restaurant opens next month, she hopes Conroe and the surrounding communities will welcome and support it.
In the month of August, V Bistro will be celebrating their 15th anniversary. To celebrate, customers who spend $75 or more will receive a special, customized drinking jar while supplies last. Educators will also receive 25% off their meal as part of their back-to-school special.
Giving back is very important to Huynh, who credits community members as the main driver behind the restaurant’s success. The customers, she notes, are also what make working in the business so enjoyable.
“My favorite part is greeting and meeting with customers. That's what makes my day. It feels like a family gathering every day,” Huynh said. “We come in and share stories, whether it’s good news or bad news. To be able to share with them all that movement, that's what makes me love my job.”
