Founded by Janelle Martin and her daughter and business partner, Regan Steinert, The Mind Connection strives to promote health and wellness in the Spring, Klein, Tomball and Magnolia communities through natural alternatives to medication for mental, physical and emotional health.

The Mind Connection’s suite of services includes brain-based therapies such as IASIS MicroCurrent Neurofeedback, Brainspotting and addiction counseling.

“We use microcurrent neurofeedback with electrodes on the head, eliciting a microcurrent of energy into the brain. It helps the brain reorganize and rebalance itself to make the brain function optimally,” said Martin. “This usually results in a lot of mental, emotional and physical health problems getting better or disappearing altogether."

According to Martin, used alone or combined with traditional therapy, IASIS has helped many clients witness incredible transformations. Martin aims to make IASIS affordable and available to anyone seeking to improve their quality of life. By providing addiction counseling, brainspotting, and IASIS, Martin hopes to contribute to the betterment of the overall health and wellness of the community.

IASIS MicroCurrent Neurofeedback sessions are painless, safe and non-invasive, with no sensation felt during the process. The results are long-lasting after an initial treatment period. However, the number of sessions required depends on factors such as age, conditions and duration/severity of symptoms. Adults normally require 15 to 20 sessions on average, while children can require fewer.

Steinert highlighted how life-changing IASIS treatments have been for many of their clients.

"In a recent case, a client started feeling numb, because of high doses of medications prescribed to him," Steinert said. “The work we do actually treats the brain. There are many times when medications conflict when the brain starts to function better, and (the client) can start to feel overmedicated. After my client stopped most of his medication with the help of his doctor, he said to me, 'You actually made me want to live again.' I just wanted to cry. The results have been amazing and life-changing."

Martin and Steinert feel called to help others on their health journey, because they have personally experienced how addiction and mental health struggles can affect someone. After completing a 10-month drug treatment program, Steinert was able to use IASIS MicroCurrent Neurofeedback to help her brain continue to recover. She was fortunate in that her mom had just gotten trained as an IASIS provider, and she became her first client in the fall of 2019. Steinert credits IASIS for alleviating drug cravings, anxiety, sleep issues and seeing life through a more positive lens.

“Though our heart is for families who are struggling with addiction, we know that IASIS MicroCurrent Neurofeedback is beneficial for everyone,” Martin said. "We also offer addiction counseling and resources for families and their loved ones who are struggling with addiction.”

Brainspotting was a therapy that Steinert did after completing a year of sobriety, and Martin attributed it to being one of the most successful treatments for trauma.

"She had a lot of childhood trauma and brainspotting was integral in healing for her,” Martin said. “We really believe in it, and it helps people process trauma without a lot of talking, which is preferred for people who don’t feel they can relive their experiences.”

Martin facilitates Parents of Addicted Loved Ones (PAL) support groups each week, free to parents of children with a substance use disorder.

“We get it and we lived it,” Martin said. “I think that's important for people to know [that] we have a lot of lived experience. You can't know by looking at us, but it helps us to connect with people when they're in our offices.”

Today, the mother and daughter team are active in the Houston and Montgomery County recovery communities. Both women are IASIS Certified Providers and trained in Brainspotting. Martin is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor currently pursuing a Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lamar University. Steinert is a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor Intern and a certified recovery coach.

In addition to its other services, The Mind Connection is a one-stop shop for Rowe Casa Organics products, a holistic company founded by two Texas moms.

The Mind Connection sells organic, non-toxic products for health and wellness, sleep, hormone balance, and much more.

"Here in our office, we sell organic, holistic, non-toxic products for head-to-toe health. It is important that the brain is treated with the same respect as any other organ in the body. This is obvious, since the brain controls everything we do and think,” Martin said. “However, we can also address many other issues within the body as well."
