For many students, the experience of choosing where to go to school usually does not come into play until they are deciding where they want to go to college. However, the staff at Fort Bend Christian Academy is opening up their campus to provide an opportunity for students to explore where they might want to attend lower, middle and upper school.

The academy will host two Preview Nights from 6:30-8 p.m. on Oct. 27 and Nov. 3 at the school, located at 1250 7th St and 1201 Lakeview., Sugar Land. The event in October is for grades ninth through twelfth, while the one in November is for pre-K through eighth grade.

Preview Nights offer a chance for prospective students and their parents to see the campus and find out more about what FBCA offers to those who attend.

“It's an official time that our campus is open for them to experience FBCA and see what it would be like to walk through the halls, compete in athletics or experience classes and meet faculty,” Director of Admissions Tiffani Hoot said. “It'll be a fun time to come and look at the beautiful campus and see the difference in what a Christian college preparatory education can do for them.”

Interested attendees are encouraged to register and RSVP at www.fortbendchristian.org/admissions/visit-fbca. Once students visit and decide that FBCA is the school for them, the next step is applying for admission. Applications require an application fee, testing, reference forms, former grades and an interview with the whole family. The priority deadline for admission to the 2023-24 school year is Jan. 27, 2023. The school also offers financial aid for any families who demonstrate financial need.

FBCA students have been known to accomplish a great deal of achievements, including 22 fine art and athletic state championships since 2017, and 100% of graduating seniors going on to either college or military service. This year, the school had two students become semifinalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program, as well as another student who received Commended Honors in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program.

“I think as a whole, we are a Christian college preparatory so we're going to teach and challenge kids academically, but from a Christian worldview and Christian perspective,” Hoot said. “They are going to be known, they're going to be loved and they're going to be challenged. I think all of that is what makes the difference.”

With a small class size across all grades, students are able to develop one-on-one connections with not only their peers, but also their teachers. The academy has a guidance counselor who is able to meet with juniors and seniors around three to four times each year as they begin the college application process.

The students have two campuses on site that they attend depending on grade level, both with state-of-the-art facilities and up-to-date classroom technologies. The two campuses also share a connected green space and athletic complex.

“We try to equip students spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and physically,” Hoot said. “Those pillars are so important, and we see people be really successful here if those things match.”
