Visiting Angels Georgetown offers a range of personalized, in-home care for seniors to keep them safe and support their families through all stages of a disease or difficult situation.

“When bad things happen, like mom breaks a hip, or a loved one goes into hospice care, it’s stressful to say the least,” Visiting Angels Georgetown owner Ryan Searight said. “We then can come in and bring in that professional caregiver to help. ”

Searight founded Visiting Angels Georgetown in 2010, and the company now serves all of Williamson County along with northern Travis County and a portion of the city of Austin. Patients with dementia and Alzheimer’s disease are a high percentage of the clients Visiting Angels Georgetown serves, which can range from individuals in their home to an independent or assisted living facility, or a hospital.

“It’s pretty scary to wake up in a hospital bed and not know what you’re doing there,” Searight said. “That’s the reality for someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia. Our caregivers are able to calm them down, hold their hand, read to them and be there to keep them safe. Most of our caregivers have lost a loved one themselves or miss taking care of a loved one, so they give back to the community by taking care of someone else’s loved one.”

Visiting Angels Georgetown is able to work with clients at all stages of various diseases and ailments, starting with short-term care that could range from help with bathing or making sure the client has access to meals or medicine once or twice a week, all the way to all day or even 24-hour care.

“We have a large elderly population in the area. Maybe a son or daughter lives out of state and they want to make sure mom’s OK and just have someone there to read a book, cook a meal or check in on them,” Searight said. “To be able to stay in their residence and see their friends and see the same familiar pictures is really a statistical improvement of quality of life. It’s a tangible benefit of having an agency like us.”

The company offers an eclectic group of caregivers suited for various personality types and ailments, and Searight and his team use that information to find the best match of expertise for each family or client they work with.

“There can be a caregiver that’s wrong for one family and then right for the next family,” Searight said. “Making those matches is what it’s all about. It’s really a match-matching service in finding the right person everyone trusts to care for your loved one.”

Regardless of the situation, Visiting Angels is there 24/7 to help families in Williamson County navigate through difficult situations. Although the business primarily works with senior citizens, they do serve anyone over the age of 18 in need of care.

Visiting Angels Georgetown offers free assessments and free in-home consultations for families who are looking for more information or help for their loved ones.

“Our caregivers are the best at making sure our clients are able to safely stay home or in their residence,” Searight said. “That is everyone’s goal.”
