A new kind of urgent care has moved into north Texas. As one of the largest health systems in the region, Texas Health has long been committed to improving the health and well-being of the communities they serve. Texas Health Breeze Urgent Care is the next step in continuing that tradition and is flipping the traditional urgent care model on its head. From being able to leave with medications in-hand to transparent pricing to your own personal Clinical Concierge Breeze is different.

The first Breeze Urgent Care location opened in November of 2020 and has already grown to over 15 locations throughout DFW with plans for more by the end of 2022. Part of the reason for expanding services was to connect with a younger demographic, said Jamie Harraid, vice president of ambulatory services at Texas Health.

Harraid said Texas Health is in the business of making connections with consumers. They chose their urgent care locations in relation to hospitals, primary care and specialty care clinics, to not only take care of a patient’s needs quickly, but to have follow-up care in close geographic proximity to where people live.

“We are looking for more ways to partner with individuals for a lifetime of health and wellbeing,” Harraid said, “Urgent care is more popular with a younger demographic that may not have a primary care physician or only need occasional acute care.”

Being part of a larger health system has several key advantages for Breeze Urgent Care. For example, when patients need follow-up care, they can leave their urgent care appointment with a confirmed future appointment at a Texas Health Physicians Group primary care or specialist, where the medical records from their visit will also be accessible. Additionally, the hours of operation at Breeze Urgent Care also set them apart from the competition.

Breeze Urgent Care is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. 365 days a year. Patients are encouraged to make a reservation online that fits their schedule. Of course, walk-ins are also welcome. During the pandemic, many urgent care centers had to stop taking walk-ins because of volume surges, but Breeze did not. Harraid said the walk-in feature was important and that people should always be able to access health care.

Texas Health Breeze locations are also equipped with an on-site pharmacy kiosk stocked with commonly prescribed medications—similar to RedBox, but instead of renting a movie, customers have a virtual visit with a pharmacist and pick up their prescriptions, Harraid said. Find more information about the on-site pharmacy kiosk on the Texas Health Breeze website.

Right now, Texas Health has 15 locations throughout North Texas, but has plans to continue expanding, Harraid said. By the end of 2023, Texas Health’s goal is to provide most North Texans with a better option for urgent care.
