When it comes to caring for your heart, minutes matter. While it is important to quickly get medical help if you’re having a heart attack, it is also important to take a few minutes out of your day to focus on a healthy heart – eat well, exercise and see your doctor for a routine checkup.

The Future is Here

While the city of Round Rock works to improve the roads for the future of our community, providers at Baylor Scott & White Health are using the tools of the future to keep the community healthy.

Doctors on the medical staff at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Austin are now using artificial intelligence to scan your heart and arteries. This is a first-of-its-kind non-invasive technology that creates a personalized 3D model of the patient’s coronary arteries. It then uses computer algorithms to simulate blood flow and assess the impact of blockages.

This technology helps physicians determine the best treatment plan for patients with coronary artery disease, the most common form of heart disease. It can also reduce unnecessary invasive testing and healthcare costs.

"The modeling and simulation of blood flow allows cardiologists to eliminate extra testing and adds precision to the diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease" Richard Stoebner, MD, a cardiologist on the medical staff at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Austin said.
