The city of Dripping Springs has received two grants from the Texas Department of Transportation to complete sidewalk improvements projects in the city.
According to a Feb. 21 news release from the city, projects will include work on sidewalks and trails along Rob Shelton Boulevard and creating sidewalks that will connect Dripping Springs Middle School and Dripping Springs High School.
TxDOT awarded the city $2.8 million total across the two grants through the Transportation Alternative Set-Aside Program, with a goal to “improve safety and mobility for non-motorized travelers,” according to the release.
The grants stipulate the city must match at least 20% of the grant funding for the projects. While plans and payment schedules have not yet been finalized, if agreed upon by the city and TxDOT, the projects would be completed over the next three to four years, according to the news release.
