Dripping Springs High School will hold its graduation ceremony June 19 at Tiger Stadium, according to an announcement from Dripping Springs ISD. Due to concerns related to the coronavirus pandemic, the class of 2020's graduation was postponed from May 29, the date when it was initially scheduled.
The June 19 ceremony will include social distancing measures, strict guidelines for safe arrival and departure, and personal protective equipment requirements. Additionally, graduates will each be allowed four guests, ensuring Tiger Stadium remains at 25% capacity.
According to a release from DSISD, guidelines for the ceremony are still under development with input from senior students and recommendations from Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Education Agency.
At a DSISD board of trustees agenda review meeting earlier this week, Superintendent Todd Washburn said postponing until the June date would allow time both to implement appropriate precautions for the ceremony and to adjust for any changes in policy.
