According to the most recent report by the state of Texas, Sunset Valley saw a 42.6% year-over-year decline in sales tax revenue generated in the month of April, as coronavirus restrictions impacted local business operations.
Sales in April brought in $294,578 in tax revenue for Sunset Valley, a drop from the $512,956 the city made in 2019 and the lowest monthly revenue since at least 2013.
In 2019, April saw 2.37% growth year-over-year.
Earlier this spring, Sunset Valley City Council began taking measure to cut its general fund for fiscal year 2019-20, with over $825,000 in cuts made in April.
