Through Dec. 31: Walk in a winter wonderland

Starting on Thanksgiving day every year, the Maywald family lights up their Southwest Austin house for the Maywald Christmas Lights display. Visitors can park and walk to the property. The event is free, though the family asks for donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. It is open nightly except when raining. 6-10 p.m. nightly. Through Dec. 31: Sip, shop and stroll

Music Lane and the South Congress Shopping District have teamed up again for the Soco Stroll, featuring window displays, holiday lights starting at dusk and frequent live music. Güero’s Taco Bar will have live music Wednesday through Sunday. Free. South Congress Avenue, Austin

Until Jan. 30: Delight in holiday lights

Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center will host its winter light event for the next month. Visitors walk a path dotted by lights to see art installations in the Texas Arboretum. 6-9 p.m (Thu.-Sun.); closed Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1. $10-$20.
