Less than 4% of registered Travis County voters cast early ballots for the May 4 election

Less than 4% of Travis County’s 895,663 registered voters cast early ballots for the May 4 election, according to data from the Travis County Clerk’s Office.

The election includes the first-ever Travis Central Appraisal District board of directors election as well as school board and city council member races, disannexation propositions, park bonds, and more depending on where voters live.

By the numbers

During early voting, which ran from April 22-30, a total of 35,683 voters cast ballots by mail or at one of more than 30 polling places countywide, according to data from the Travis County Clerk's Office. The majority, 29,899, voted in person, while 5,784 submitted ballots by mail.

This election’s early voting period garnered fewer votes compared to early voting during Travis County’s two previous May elections in 2022 and 2023, which saw 58,293 and 50,350, respectively.

Dozens of polling locations will be open from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. on election day, May 4. Registered voters can vote at any polling location in the county.
