From new roadways expanding city access to over $10 million in federal grant support, transportation projects in Buda have seen significant progress. Check out four recent road updates from the city.
Upcoming projects
Project: The project will expand the roadway to a four-lane corridor with a raised median and dedicated left-turn lanes. It will include a 10-foot shared-use path on both sides of the road to accommodate pedestrians and cyclists.
Update: The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, or CAMPO, awarded the project $10.5 million in federal funding.
Project
: Crews will complete a full-depth asphalt pavement reconstruction from South Loop 4 to I-35, widen the existing roadway, improve drainage and add sidewalks and cycling accommodations.Update: The Buda City Council approved a recommendation to only construct the western portion of the roadway, from approximately Bonita Vista Drive to South Loop 4. Remaining allocated funds for the project will be applied to transportation projects on Old Black Colony Road and Austin Street.
Middle Creek Drive rehabilitation
Project: The project will reconstruct the roadway to improve groundwater and irrigation system infiltration and pavement condition through crack sealing, reconstruction and a thin mill and overlay.
Update: Substantial completion on the project was reached in mid-August, and final asphalt paving has begun.
Project
: Construction crews built a new bridge on Cole Springs Road, the second crossing over Onion Creek. The project, funded by two homebuilders, connects Cole Springs Road to FM 2770.Update: The bridge was completed and opened to traffic July 17. A ribbon-cutting launched the roadway alongside the Colony at Cole Springs master-planned community.
