The National Weather Service has extended its winter storm warning through 6 a.m. Feb. 2; initially, the warning had been in effect through noon Feb. 1. San Antonio, Hays County, Austin, Georgetown, Fredericksburg and other Hill Country cities are all affected by the warning.
Other portions of Texas including Pleasanton and Uvalde are under a winter storm advisory.
Freezing rain and ice are expected throughout the region as temperatures are only expected to reach the low 30s on Jan. 31, according to the NWS.
The inclement weather has prompted the closure of campuses and offices throughout Hays and San Marcos CISDs, Texas State University and more districts throughout the area.
