Ruben Becerra narrowly earns second term as Hays County judge

Winners of other Hays County races are as follows:

• Precinct 2 commissioner: Michelle Gutierrez Cohen at 60.81%
• Precinct 4 commissioner: Walt Smith at 54.14%
• District clerk: Avery Anderson at 51.03%
• County clerk: Elaine Cárdenas at 53.29%
• County treasurer: Daphne Sanchez Tenorio at 52.23%

With Election Day results trickling in, the race for Hays County judge is beginning to get tighter with incumbent Ruben Becerra narrowly ahead of Mark Jones. Becerra leads with 50.59% of the vote.

For the Precinct 2 commissioner seat, Michelle Gutierrez Cohen continues to lead with 61.9% of the vote over Gonzalez.

Smith continues to lead over Susan Cook for Precinct 4 commissioner with 52.71% of the vote.

The race has narrowed for the district clerk position with Anderson ahead of Beverly Crumley at 51.26% and 48.74% of the vote, respectively.

Elaine Cárdenas remains ahead at 53.64% of the vote over Duran for county clerk.

Daphne Sanchez Tenorio also holds her lead over Britney Bolton Richey for county treasurer with 52.55% of the vote.

Nearly 40% of registered Hays County voters hit the polls during early voting for a number of races including judge.

Results show incumbent Ruben Becerra with 51.76% of the vote while challenger and fellow commissioner Mark Jones has garnered 48.24% of the votes.

This would be Becerra's second term if re-elected. Jones has served on the commissioners court since 2010 after serving on the Hays CISD board of trustees.

With Jones running for Hays County Judge, the Precinct 2 Commissioner seat is open for challengers Michelle Gutierrez Cohen, who is ahead with 63.51% of the vote, over Mike Gonzalez.

Incumbent Walt Smith is slightly ahead of challenger Susan Cook for the Precinct 4 Commissioner seat at 52.1% and 47.90% of the vote, respectively.

In the race for Hays County district clerk, Avery Anderson garnered 52.37% of the votes during early voting with Beverly Crumley behind at 47.63%.

Elaine Cárdenas pulls ahead for county clerk at 54.89% of the vote with Linda Duran at 45.11% of the vote,

Former Kyle Council Member Daphne Sanchez Tenorio pulls ahead with 53.72% of the vote for county treasurer over Britney Bolton Richey.
