Officials with the Master’s School of San Marcos and San Marcos Academy publicly announced Nov. 1 they will merge their programs on the San Marcos Academy campus for the 2019-20 school year. Parents and staff were told Oct. 30.
“San Marcos Academy and The Master’s School have unique histories and identities,” said Brian Guenther, current head of school at San Marcos Academy and former head of school at The Master's School, in a written statement. “[W]e have chosen to unite together to create a new legacy under one roof, maximizing the opportunity and potential to educate students in a nurturing, Christ-centered environment.”
Students attending grades K-6 at The Master's School will finish the academic year on its Centerpoint Road campus and then have the option of transferring to San Marcos Academy, which serves grades K-12, next year.
A transition committee with representatives from both schools has already held preliminary meetings and will continue discussions over the next several months. Guenther said in the statement that San Marcos Academy will be offering tours for families with students at The Master's School.
“Our sincere desire is that they will choose to enroll their children at the Academy next fall,” Guenther said.
