Receiving a little more than 58 percent of the vote, Republican candidate Walt Smith will be the party's nomination in the general election for Hays County Precinct 4 commissioner. Unofficial election results for tonight's primary show Skipton received 41.43 percent of the vote as of 10 p.m. Smith will face Democratic challenger Omar Baca in the November general election. Baca is running unopposed in the primary elections. Ray Whisenant, a Republican who currently holds the seat, said in 2017 he will retire when his term ended.
