The Texas Department of Transportation will close all eastbound lanes and the westbound right lane of Aquarena Springs Drive between Charles Austin Drive and Laurel Lane/San Marcos Springs Drive in San Marcos from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday. The closures are part of the ongoing construction of a $20.7-million overpass on Aquarena Springs over the Union Pacific Railroad Corp. tracks that cross the road. The closures will allow contractor Jordan Foster to demolish concrete forms above the travel lanes. TxDOT has said intermittent lane closures are expected within the project area throughout the summer to accommodate the construction project. The overpass is expected to be completed by late 2017, weather permitting, TxDOT representatives said.
