City, public school and county officials are scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on July 31 at the San Marcos Activity Center, located 501 E. Hopkins St., for the annual State of San Marcos event. The free event, which will also be live-streamed through the San Marcos City Hall Facebook page, will feature a conversation between Mayor Jane Hughson, San Marcos CISD Superintendent Michael Cardona and Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra. The event is open to the public. According to a July 15 city press release, the three-speaker panel will address opportunities and challenges that the community is facing. “We are experiencing transformational growth, unprecedented in our history as a community,” Hughson stated in the release. “The State of San Marcos event is a chance for all residents to learn more about our progress in the city, county and public schools.”
