1. Hays County Commissioners Court meets Tuesday at 9 a.m.
The meeting’s agenda includes discussion and possible action on the issuance of a series of bonds related to transportation projects included in last year’s two county bond propositions. At 11 a.m. commissioners also hold a workshop related to voting equipment. Last week the Hays County Election Commission accepted a county committee’s recommendation to purchase new voting equipment from Hart, the county’s current vendor for elections equipment. 2. Hays County and K Friese & Associates host an open house on the FM 150 character plan Tuesday from 6-8 p.m.
County commissioners Will Conley and Ray Whisenant review concepts of the FM 150 character plan alongside representatives and engineers from K Friese & Associates, the firm contracted by the county to develop the plan. The character plan seeks to address safety and aesthetics on FM 150 as well as current and anticipated capacity issues on the span of the road from Arroyo Ranch Road in Kyle to RR 12 in Dripping Springs. The meeting is an open house format, and there will be a 10-minute welcome at 6:15 p.m. Project documents and materials will be available for residents to review at the meeting, and they will be made available online here. Residents are invited to come and go at their convenience. The meeting takes place at Dripping Springs High School, 940 Hwy. 290, Dripping Springs.
3. The San Marcos Planning and Zoning Commission meets at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
On the commission’s agenda are two requests to build purpose-built student housing downtown. The purpose-built student housing designation allows construction of apartments that are geared toward students and can be rented by the bedroom. The first request is for apartments to be built at 323 Lindsey St. and 410 North St. The second request is for Cheatham Street Flats, which would be built at 421 Guadalupe St. and 101 and 103 E. 4. The Kyle Planning and Zoning Commission meets Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
The meeting’s agenda includes a potential conditional-use permit to allow the construction of a new IDEA charter school near the intersection of Goforth Road and Bluestem Street. The commission will provide a recommendation of whether to approve the permit, and the recommendation will go to City Council for final consideration.
