Two road projects are ongoing in Northeast San Antonio, including one that recently started in Universal City.

National Boulevard, East Langley Boulevard project starts construction in Universal City

Construction is now underway in Universal City to rebuild National Boulevard and East Langley Boulevard.

The details

As previously reported by Community Impact in November, the total cost of the project is roughly $2.94 million. The work consists of removing existing pavement of East Langley from Pat Booker Road to the intersection of East Langley and National, then rebuilding the pavement along with new curb, gutter and driveway approaches.

Other parts of the project include utility manhole and valve adjustments, as well as a new 10-foot drainage inlet structure connecting to the existing National Boulevard drainage system.

Public Works Director Randy Luensmann said the project is broken down into four phases. The first, currently underway, will be on National Boulevard from Pat Booker Road to Trudy Lane. A subsequent phase will work on National Boulevard from Trudy Lane to East Langley Boulevard, including the National Boulevard “knuckle” extending into a residential area on the northern side of the road.

Luensmann said he was not sure which of the remaining two phases will be tackled first by contractor E-Z Bel Construction LLC, but the phases will work similarly through East Langley Boulevard.
