The traffic pattern on FM 1518 shifted from the east side of the roadway to the west side, according to a Jan. 31 release from the Texas Department of Transportation.

The details

Work on FM 1518 began in June, and shifted construction to the east side of the roadway in December.

As of Jan. 31, both lanes of traffic south of Trainer Hale Road shifted and will stay on the west side of the roadway over the next six weeks, according to TxDOT.

The $73 million project will transform the existing roadway into a four-lane corridor with a raised median. The project also includes the construction of a 10-foot-wide shared-use path along the east side of the road, and a 6-foot-wide sidewalk on the west side of the road for pedestrian and bicycle access.

Construction is scheduled to be completed in four phases, with the first phase focusing on utility upgrades and intersection improvements at FM 1518 and FM 78.

Looking ahead

The entire project is expected to be completed in 2028.
