The road between 11503 Bulverde Road and 10915 Nacogdoches Road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 18 and 19 while workers with CPS Energy work to improve aging overhead transmission lines, according to a news release. No customer outages are expected due to the road closures.

Work crews will remove existing transmission structure foundations on Nacogdoches Road as part of the public utility’s ongoing efforts to improve quality and safety of the lines, which will cause intermittent lane closures, the release states. Work is weather permitting.

“We are undertaking projects to convert our existing overhead electric lines to underground lines for improved electric service reliability,” according to the CPS Energy website. “We are undertaking these projects because underground electric lines are generally less susceptible than overhead lines to damage and/or service interruptions due to storms, vehicles, trees and animals.”

Traffic control for the road closure will be conducted by Jag Public Safety, according to the release. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and find alternative routes. More information about upcoming road closures or infrastructure projects can be found on CPS Energy’s website.
