On Nov. 16, the Texas Department of Transportation and area partners broke ground on the FM 1103 expansion project, which began in November.

The FM 1103 expansion project is a $39.2 million project that aims to increase mobility, enhance safety and reduce congestion for area drivers, according to TxDOT officials.

To achieve this, the project will expand the roadway from two lanes to four lanes, including center turn lanes.

Accommodations will also be added for pedestrians and cyclists, including 6-foot sidewalks and 5-foot bike lanes in each direction.

Road improvements will be for approximately 4 miles from I-35 to Rodeo Way in Comal and Guadalupe counties.

According to TxDOT officials, the project is expected to be completed in 2026.
