Operation Polar Express began in Schertz on Nov. 8. This program allows residents to have packages delivered to the Schertz Police Department as a way to keep them safe from package theft.
Packages delivered to the police department must be under 50 pounds, and package owners must provide a government-issued identification card and order/shipment proof of receipt, and the name of the person picking up the package should match the name on the mailing address.
For packages addressed to children, parents or legal guardians must provide proof of guardianship and/or the child’s identification.
The program will last through Dec. 23, and all packages not picked up by then will be returned to the sender.
Pickup times are Mondays-Fridays 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays from Nov. 20 to Dec. 18 will have pickup times from 10 a.m. to noon.
