Selma City Council approved a contractor for a pavilion at the Stage Stop Park visitors center at 9374 Valhalla on June 12.

The big picture

Council approved a contract with San Antonio-based CGC General Contractors in the amount of $237,000 and an amount not to exceed $260,700, accounting for a 10% construction cost contingency. Contingency is money set aside for any unforeseen extra costs that arise during construction. The project will be funded through Hotel Occupancy Tax funding, City Manager Johnny Casias said.

The project will add an outdoor open-air pavilion to the visitors' center area, Casias told Community Impact.

The city previously approved architectural services on the project to RVK Architecture in the amount of $78,000 in the fall of 2024. Casias told council that CGC was chosen for the project for both its pricing and track record with similar projects.

Next steps

The pavilion is anticipated to be completed in winter 2025, Casias told Community Impact.
