Benjamin Guerrero was officially sworn in as the new council member for Schertz City Council, Place 4, on Jan. 28 after Schertz City Council canvassed the election results from the Jan. 18 runoff election between Guerrero and Tim Dusek.

The breakdown

According to canvassed votes, a total of 910 ballots were cast during the runoff, with Guerrero receiving 463 votes, representing 50.88% of total votes. Dusek received 447 votes, or 49.12% of total votes.

Guerrero will serve the remainder of the term previously held by Tiffany Gibson, who resigned in September. The term is set to end in 2026.

In a candidate questionnaire prior to the election, Guerrero told Community Impact his top priorities would be ensuring the effectiveness and quality of first responders, and a focus on the infrastructure budget for road improvements.
