Schertz City Council on Dec. 26 approved a resolution calling for a runoff election to fill the vacant City Council, Place 4 seat.

The gist

The canvassing of the votes was originally scheduled for Dec. 14. During the meeting, Mayor Ralph Gutierrez said the final voting totals from the election have not been provided to the city, due to mail-in ballots that have not been returned.

A runoff election hosted by Guadalupe County will be held on Jan. 18.

Moving forward


As of the canvassed totals released by Guadalupe County, the top two vote-getters in the Schertz election were Tim Dusek with 28.99% of votes and Benjamin Guerrero with 22.38% of votes.

Early voting will be held on the following dates:
  • Jan. 2-3
  • Jan. 6-10
  • Jan. 13-14
According to the Guadalupe County election website, the polling location for the election will be the Schertz Community Center, located at 1400 Schertz Parkway, Schertz.
