The overview
On Dec. 4, Garden Ridge City Council approved a resolution to be shared with TPW for the acceptance of the awarded grant.
The project covers the construction of a 0.56-mile natural surface multiuse trail in the park.
With the acceptance of the grant, the city will be required to match 20% of the cost of the project, which is estimated to be $33,375 from the city.
Moving forward
City Manager Nancy Cain said TPW will require a series of studies prior to any work on the trail beginning.
“We cannot do any work, we cannot spend any money on this until those studies are done, and we have a formal executed agreement with TPW,” Cain said.
This process will take around a year to complete, making the project construction beginning around 2026. The funding will be allocated in the Fiscal Year 2025-26 budget, Cain said.
