A special election will be held Dec. 14 to fill the vacancy for City Council Place 4, following the resignation of Tiffany Gibson on Sept. 3.

The overview

City council approved an ordinance on Sept. 24 calling for a special election to be held by Guadalupe County.

Gibson was elected in November 2023 to serve a term ending in 2026. The candidate with the most votes will finish out the remainder of the term.

City staff said applications opened on Sept. 25 and the last day to file for a place on the ballot will be Oct. 15. Early voting will begin Dec. 2.




According to the city code of ordinances, qualifications for candidacy include the following:
  • Must have attained the age of eighteen or older on the first day of the term of office for which elected
  • Be a registered voter of the City of Schertz
  • Have been a resident of the City of Schertz for at least twelve consecutive months immediately preceding the deadline for filing for an application for a place on the ballot
