The Residential Energy Assistance Partnership has been expanded to be more accessible to Bexar County residents.

The overview

The program is a partnership between CPS Energy, Bexar County and the city of San Antonio, offering utility assistance for those in need, according to the program website.

CPS Energy customers who are residents of San Antonio or the 26 cities and incorporated areas across Bexar County can apply.

In August, the board of the program increased the maximum benefit for Bexar County residents outside San Antonio from $400 to up to $1,200.




The income qualification criteria for the Federal Poverty Level also changed from 125% to 150%, according to the program website.

Alongside the FPL requirement, customers may be eligible for REAP assistance by meeting one of the following conditions:
  • Are 60 or older
  • Disabled
  • Have children under 16 living with them
  • Require critical-care equipment
