Cibolo City Council approved the Cibolo Tomorrow Comprehensive Plan, which serves as a guide for future city development and economic development potential, on Sept. 10.

The overview

City staff developed the plan over the course of 19 months, hosting open houses and public surveys to receive input from residents.

The outlook of the plan is around 20 years, focusing on short-term, medium-term and long-term goals; strategies; and actions, according to the city's website.

Data within the plan states that the city is expected to reach a population of nearly 68,000 by 2050, which equates to nearly 30,000 new residents over the next 26 years.
The plan is not legally binding and is meant to serve as a guideline for city staff and officials.

Within the plan, topics include:
  • A future land use map
  • A master thoroughfare plan
  • Housing and neighborhood information
  • Plans for public services and community facilities
  • Plan implementation
These topics highlight future growth areas for the city, including residential areas, commercial areas, road connections and other public services.

The final draft can be found on the city's website, where city staff have also listed podcast episodes residents can listen to for additional information and explanation on different chapters within the plan.
