The city of Live Oak continues efforts to maintain and revitalize Main City Park. City Council on Aug. 27 authorized the city manager to work with 6S Engineering on engineering services for parking lots at the park in an amount not to exceed $214,785.

What’s happening?

During the meeting, Assistant Public Works Director Edmond McNew said the design would be for both sections of Main City Park, which includes five parking lots.

The design for the project is expected to finish by the end of the year, with work anticipated to start in early 2025.

McNew said the project may conflict with construction on the park road, which could lead to times where the park cannot be fully open. Details on construction conflicts and the plan to keep the park open during construction will be discussed following the project design.

“We know we are going to face some challenges,” McNew said. “We know we are going to come out with a better thing than we have now with our torn-up asphalt.”
