Selma City Council on Aug. 8 approved the preliminary tax rate for fiscal year 2024-25, which is planned to stay at the same rate as FY 2023-24 at $0.1879 per $100 valuation.

Prior to final approval of the tax rate, City Council will hold a public hearing on Sept. 12, giving residents the opportunity to comment on the proposed rate. Final adoption of the rate is scheduled for Sept. 17.

What else?

While the tax rate is proposed to be unchanged, homeowners may see an increase in annual taxes paid depending on increases to home appraisal values.

According to data from the San Antonio Board of Realtors, the median home sales price in the 78154 ZIP code as of June was $349,000.

A homeowner with a home valued at $349,000 would pay an estimated $655.77 in annual property taxes to the city.

Information regarding the appraised value of a home can be found through the Bexar Appraisal District, Guadalupe Appraisal District or Comal Appraisal District depending on the county where the property is located.
