Cibolo City Council will host a special meeting July 16 that will double as a budget workshop and the consideration of an interlocal agreement between the city and Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD.

The overview

Since December, the Cibolo Police Department has been looking to increase the number of patrol officers.

As part of this discussion, City Council decided to look at an interlocal agreement between the city and school district that has Cibolo officers serve as school resource officers.

Over multiple meetings, council has discussed the best option moving forward, with comments from the city attorney regarding the validity of the agreement.

In June, City Council authorized negotiations with the school district for a new agreement or compromise.

What's next?

On July 16, council will consider the agreement. A budget workshop is scheduled for 5-8 p.m. while the consideration of the agreement is scheduled for 8-9 p.m., City Secretary Peggy Cimics said during the July 9 meeting.

City Council meetings are held in Cibolo City Hall, located at 200 S. Main St., Cibolo.
