Anas Garfaoui was appointed as the new city manager of Live Oak during the Jan. 9 City Council meeting.

Former City Manager Glen Martel announced his resignation during the Sept. 12 City Council meeting.

Following Martel’s resignation, Garfaoui was appointed as the interim city manager while City Council looked for someone to fill the role. Garfaoui has served as the assistant city manager since April 2022.

During the Jan. 9 meeting, council members entered a closed session to discuss the city manager position and announced Garfaoui as the new city manager.

According to the city website, the job of the city manager is to act as the chief operating officer of the city, working directly under City Council.

In the role, Garfaoui will provide management in the day-to-day activities of the city and will be responsible for the implementation of city policies.
